N-C Carpet Binding & Equipment

Family owned and operated for more than 60 years, N-C Carpet Binding & Equipment Company manufactures machinery and offers supplies for the flooring trade.

     Family members A. Joseph Caplan and Maliad Maher started the business after service in the military. Maher became the expert in setting up entire garment factories with equipment required to manufacture clothing. Caplan branched out in the development of special sewing machines for the carpet industry. He is credited with developing the first bobbin less, zig zag, double chain lock stitch machine to tape and bind carpets in one-pass operation.

     Mel Maher and Mark Caplan have spearheaded the development of the industry's bobbinless portable carpet binder and the all new portable serger. In addition, their efforts have led N-C into developing custom machinery for dozens of industries.

     The most recent addition to management is Mel's son Mal Maher. Mal directs international accounts, website design, sales, and marketing efforts.
