Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a minimum order?
No. You may buy as little or as much as you wish.
I've been told that berber carpet is subject to yellowing. What's that all about?
Some reports of that happening, particularly in the northern part of the US, but it's not widespread. Some berbers have a Ph factor that reacts with the pad causing a discoloration of the face yarns. Just ask your dealer for a guaranteed non-yellowing pad. It's not expensive and your potential problem is solved.
What is the best type of fiber for our new carpeting -- nylon, olefin, wool, polyester, or others? Every place I shop seems to suggest a different fiber . . . who's right?
The right fiber for you depends on your lifestyle. Do you need carpet for use in a much lived-in house with kids and pets? Or is it for commercial use? Or a little-used plush mansion: We need to know if we are to help you select the right fiber. Then, we will be glad to give you fiber test results from years of study.
Is pad really necessary under our new carpet?
Yes, but we've found that no matter what grade of pad you use, the same performance seems to prevail. Without pad your carpet will pack down quickly (except Level Loop Commercial & Berber which wear better or as well without pad.) So, pad is important, but don't be sold the highest-price pad -- go to the midrange
Why was I charged sales tax on my purchase?
State tax is applied to an item if you reside in the state of Florida and have no tax certificate registration number.
How long will it take to process my order?
Usually your carpet will arrive within 7 to 10 working days. This is faster than most carpet retailers can deliver!
Will you figure our yardage needs if we give you the dimensions?
We can provide you with a rough means of determining what you need from the measurements of your home. However, before you order you will need a carpet installer to provide you with exact measurements.
How do I determine how much carpet I need?
To determine the approximate amount of carpet you will need, multiply the length (feet) of the room by its width (feet), and divide that figure by 9 to obtain the square yardage. Add 10 percent to amount for room irregularities and pattern match. It is best to have your installer make final measurements to ensure that you purchase the correct amount.
Explain the term trackless.
There is no totally trackless carpet. However, today's technology has gone a long way towards reducing footprints due to a denser construction, combined with tightly twisted yarn to give a textured appearance which resists tracking. We refer to this as our textured line of carpet.
What's better, loop pile or cut pile?
Historically, homeowners prefer our cut pile because it offers a softer, attractive appearence and feel. This is especially true in our textured saxony and velvet products. Our berber products have proven to be excellent in high-traffic areas, basements, family playrooms, and more and more as a whole house carpet.
How do I get candlewax out of my new berber carpet?
Set your iron on synthetic setting...lay a towel over the wax spill...iron over the towel until the wax melts into the towel.. (careful not to overheat...you can melt the carpet pile)...if the stain or small amount of wax is left...clean with clorox ..if your carpet is 100% solution dyed yarns(ask your dealer)..if not use any carpet spot cleaner product.
