This is a tricky question!

Thank you for asking about the store cat!

Java is sleek and fat. She is a green eyed tabby who likes her coffee with cream, thank you. She is aloof and affectionate (Since you asked about her, she is probably affectionate with you). Right now she is either perched on a display, watching traffic, sleeping in her loft or running like a buffalo throughout the store.

Come in to visit her anytime! We cannot promise that she will see fit to see you but she probably will.

Wood floors in a room add warmth, richness and beauty. Wood floors add value to your home... just ask any realtor. Today's prefinished wood floors have advanced finishes that are more scratch, soil, wear and fade resistant than those even just a few years ago. Some engineered wood floors can even be installed below grade (basements) or on grade (on a concrete subfloor).  The species, plank size, finish, bevel, and color choices available go way above and beyond basic oak.  Which is wonderful... distressed floors help hide heavy traffic, exotic woods make your home distinctive and bamboo (actually a grass not a wood) and maple are super dense but still light and modern in appearance. However, wood floors are not right for every situation. For example, we do not recommend wood floors in high water use or steam use areas.  Ceramic tile or resilient sheet goods or tile would be a better choice in these areas.  We would need to have a little more info about your home, lifestyle and intended use before we could recommend a specific floor for your home.

EcoChoice carpet is a collection  exclusive to CarpetsPlus Colortile stores.  The collection of textures, friezes and patterns was released in August 2007.  Our customers have been very excited about the colors and styles!  Please check out the following link www.ecochoiceflooring.com for more information about this exciting line.

Over 5 billion tons of carpet go to our landfills each year. The carpet industry is hard at work to fix this growing problem. Some carpets are being recycled into other plastic products such as pallets. Some carpets are being incinerated for power. Anso Type 6 nylon is able to be recylced into new Anso Type 6 nylon carpet again and again and again! This type of recycling is often called "closed-loop" or "cradle to cradle". EcoChoice is made from Anso Type 6 nylon and contains recycled content.  With EcoChoice, you can do the right thing and not compromise when it comes to quality, style or color.

Carpet and sheet vinyl floors used to be priced in square yards, like fabric. Pricing all types of flooring by the square foot allows the consumer (you!) the ability to compare the various products easily. In late 1999, we were notified by the Department of Weights and Measures that all flooring was to be sold by the square foot, beginning Jan. 1, 2000. As you may have noticed, not every retailer has made the switch. We even have a few manufacturers who haven't! If you are trying to compare a square foot price to a square yard price, the calculation is easy. There are nine square feet in a square yard. So, if an item is $1.00/sq.ft, it would be $9.00/sq.yd..

Well... you have quite a lot of options!

Almost all carpet sold in the US is made in Georgia, North Carolina or California. There are a few (very few) wool, wilton weave and commercial products that are made elsewhere.

We have many hardwood, resilient (sheet vinyl), luxury vinyl tile, cork, linoleum, ceramic, porcelain and laminate products that are made in the US. Just ask us when you come in and we will direct you to the products made in the US.

Yes, glass tile is expensive compared to other tile options. However, it is less expensive than solid surface (ie corian) or granite! Keep in mind that whatever tile you choose will be on your wall for many years. Glass tile is exciting to look at because it holds the light and reflects it differently than typical glazed tile.  If you are trying to budget but still want to use glass tile, consider making a design statement by using glass and ceramic or glass and stone in combination. This can be effected many ways. You can still have the glass tile (and a more unique design) at a smaller price tag.

Typically, we will install your floor within five to ten days after you have placed your order. After you have placed your order, we will call you within 24 hours to schedule the installation. The date is determined by: how quickly the material will arrive in our warehouse, how quickly we can install the material, how much time the actual installation will take and when the installation will be convenient for you.

When your job was scheduled, a reminder note was sent to you with the scheduled time of arrival.  If you did not receive your reminder note or if it has been lost, please call us (839-9399) and we send you a new copy.

If your job was scheduled for morning installation, you can expect our installers to arrive between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.. If your job was scheduled for afternoon installation, you can expect our installers to arrive between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m..

We do all of the moving, resetting, connecting and disconnecting. We only ask that you...

Refrigerator-We ask that you secure the lids on all items in your refrigerator and that there are no loose eggs.

Range/Washer/Dryer- Please remove all items from inside and on top of the appliance.

Toilet- If we are removing the old commode and setting a new commode, you will need to have the new commode assembled prior to our setting the new one.

Moving and resetting furniture is priced by the job. We need to look at the rooms to determine the price. This is the only fair way to price it. We can give you an idea based on your descriptions of the furniture in the rooms if you would like to email us at sales@floorfashionsco.com or call us at 317-839-9339.  When we move and reset the furniture, we do not move and reset small items or strip and re-make the beds.  All dishes must be removed from china cabinets, dining tables and hutches. All bookcases must be empty. When we come to your home to measure, we will discuss what you will need to move. We do move small pianos and pool tables but cannot guarantee that the piano will remain in tune or that the pool table will maintain absolute level.

Yes, we do have Saturday installations but they are coveted. To have your floor installed on a saturday, you need to schedule your installation about 4-5 weeks in advance. We do not do residential installations in the evenings. We will schedule commercial installations for evenings but we need to schedule evening installations about 3-5 weeks, in advance.

We struggle to balance our customer's needs and the needs of our installers. Our installers are professionals. In this business, real installers who take professional development seriously are rare. If we want to provide our customers with the best installation, we need to retain the best installers. Part of that retention is allowing them a life, outside of work. There are a lot of unqualified and underqualified "installers" who are out there and will install anytime & anywhere but always poorly. We want your floor to be installed correctly and professionally... you probably do too.

One of the only downsides to ceramic tile floors and walls is cleaning the grout!  The best way to keep your grout clean is to start right when your floor is installed.  We encourage our customers to let us seal their grout at the time of installation or to seal it themselves within the first week.  Your grout may be able to be brought back to its original color by cleaning with a Heavy Duty Tile and Grout Cleaner and some elbow grease. Once it is cleaned and rinsed with cool clear water, allow it to dry.  Then, apply grout sealer. If cleaning did not remove the stains, you can stain your grout.  It is an easy DIY process. Please come in to see the color chart for grout stains. If you don't see a color you like, it can be custom colored.  Ordering usually takes a week to 10 days.  Grout stain has a built-in sealant and you will not need to seal the stained grout.  After your grout has been cleaned and sealed/stained, maintain your floor with a Ph neutral cleaner designed for tile and grout. We stock TileStar brand. Call us if you have any questions about maintaining any other floors in your home. We are always happy to help!

Very carefully...

Just kidding. It really is not that difficult. There are a few rules to follow.

  • Never, ever, ever mop or saturate a hardwood floor.
  • Sweep or dust mop frequently.
  • Use walk off mats at all entrances.
  • Clean with a product designed for your floor. Check your warranty and care sheet that came with your floor. If you don't have a care sheet please read on. For floors with a urethane finish, we recommend Bona Hardwood Cleaner and the Bona mop*. For floors with a wax or oil finish, use butchers wax and buff.
  • If your floor loses it's lustre or has small surface scratches, there are polishes designed to work with your floor's finish. Call us, we will help you figure it out.

*We love the Bona products. Check out our Coupon (on this website) for an extra 20% off all cleaning products!

If you purchased your floor from us, please call us as soon as you notice a problem. Sometimes, we can solve the problem without the need to file a claim. If we are unable to solve the problem, we will contact the manufacturer and help you file a claim. The manufacturer may send out an inspector or a technician to look at your floor. If the inspector cannot determine the cause of the problem, a sample may be taken to be shipped to a lab for testing. The process can take as little as two weeks and as long as three months (although this is rare).

If you purchased your floor from another retailer, we are still happy to assist you. If your problem can be solved by a repair (bleach spots, bad seams, wrinkles), we can send a serviceman to your home to fix the problem. If you have a defective floor, we recommend that you have your retailer help you file a claim. The manufacturer usually requires information from the retailer that you may not have. Of course, if you know who manufactured your floor, we are happy to give you contact information for claims or customer service departments at any manufacturer that we work with.
